Called to Fellowship

October 2009

Dear Friends,

Everyone one of us are called of the Lord. One area of our calling, is having been called into fellowship with the Holy Spirit. He is God, not only on the earth, but within us. In these days that we live in, fellowship with Him is imperative. It is time to press in to a deeper fellowship.

Isaiah 40:29-31 "He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power. Though youths grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly, yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary."

It is the Holy Spirit that gives strength, power and might. Are you feeling weary, faint, or exhausted? He will increase our physical and emotional strength. In these days, the youths, who should have power, are growing weary and tired! The vigorous ones in their prime of life, are staggering, and being made weak. It is time to develop in deeper fellowship with the Holy One.

He will cause us to gain new strength. This is not just a renewing of what we have, but actually taking on something that we did not have to begin with. This is a New Strength!! We do not have to be wearied, and tired. We are in Him. He does not become weary or tired. I know we are all in this flesh and it needs rest, but there is a great difference between rest, and a need to recover from being wearied, tired, and excessively weakened. We do this by waiting upon the Lord.

A server in a restaurant may be waiting for customers, but once they show up the server no longer waits for them, but waits upon them. We are to be waiting upon the Lord. We do this by twisting together with Him. We, in our weakness, can wrap ourself around His strength. This can be accomplished as we develop deeper fellowship with Him. Romans 8:26 tells us, The Holy Spirit helps our weaknesses..." It is His desire to help us. He wants to help us. He has provided what we need to overcome the weariness, tiredness, and excessive weakness of the flesh.

There are several things we can do to develop deeper fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

  1. Worship Him purposefully. John 4:23-24 Jesus says the true worshipers worship in spirit and in truth. We are not only looking for an inroad to get what we need, but with a thankful heart, and on purpose, we approach the Lord to give Him the worship He is so deserving of. Our heart's desire is to worship Him. The Lord knows the place of commitment in our heart and He knows when we reach it in true worship.
  2. Pray in the Holy Spirit. Jude 20-21 tells us to build up our faith and keep ourself in the love of God as we pray in the Holy Spirit. Love and faith, nature and power. Both directly connected with each other. Faith works by love (Gal 5:6).
  3. Learn to listen. Hosea 6:3 "So let us know, let us press on to know the Lord. His going forth is as certain as the dawn; And He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rain watering the earth." As we fellowship with the Lord, we come to know Him more and more. He comes as the refreshing of the rain, on a hot day. He comes to water and bring forth harvest. Romans 8:14 says we can be led by the Spirit of God. As we come to know Him more, then we are able to follow Him more. We can become more accurate with His leadership, and in our ability to follow Him closely. He desires to speak to us, direct us, help us. He is surely worth getting to know Him more.
  4. Recognize and honor His presence. Exodus 3:5 Then He said, "Do not come near here; remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground." Shoes carried the dirt of the world. There is not to be any dirt in His presence. This is not a respect for the physical place of meeting with Him, but it is honoring the presence of the Most High God. Jesus shed His blood for us, so as we approach the presence of the Lord, we can if needed, repent of sin and be cleansed. Then we can come into the presence of the Lord and fellowship with Him free from any dirt from the world.
  5. Learn to walk in the spirt as a natural, not mystical, way of life. Galatians 5:16 "But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh." He says to walk about as a manner of life, in this natural life, by the influences of the Holy Spirit. This is allowing Him to lead us, teach us, impress us in our spirit. To do this we need to be developing in the things mentioned above.

Although visions and dreams are legitimate ways of the Holy Spirit, they are not the common way that He leads us. We want revelations, impartations, inspirations, not hallucinations. Kenneth Wuest says; "We refuse the desires of the evil nature by conducting ourself in the power of the Holy Spirit and under His control." The Christian is to desire. to live a Christian life, depend upon the Holy Spirit for the power to live that life,(purpose of grace), and step out in faith and live that life. This brings all the infinite resources of grace to the aid of the disciple, and puts into operation all the activities of the Holy Spirit on his behalf. AND WE WILL- Mount up w/wings like eagles, not be weary or tired, because we are twisting together with Him all the days of our lives, developing a deeper fellowship with Him.

Never has there been a day among the people of God like the days we live in today. We are the generation with the marvelous opportunity to twist together with the Lord. We can come into fellowship with the Holy Spirit Himself. We can be like the 5 virgins who awoke and was full of oil to meet the bridegroom. We can fly above all the devil has to throw at the world as we mount up with wings like eagles!!!
